I invited you over late last night, hoping you would show up.
A text, an email, perhaps all it took was a short phone call, or cosmic energy.
We made our arrangements and agreed on a time when you would slip through my door.
You crept in softly, I almost didn't realize that you had come over, you were so quiet.
I felt you touch my leg, then my arm, you grazed my face, avoiding my eyes.
I laid there hoping you would quiet my mind and allow me to release my stresses.
Looked over at my clock and thought it was too late for your presence, or maybe it was too early. Either way, I wanted you here with me, giving me the comfort that I needed.
I invited you over like so many times before, and you showed up like so many times before.
It was not without hesitation, nor was it without a fight.
For every moment I wanted you here with me, you wanted to be somewhere else.
I could not force you to come over, but you showed up, so we should make something happen.
You slid in the bed along side me, and tempted me to close my eyes and let go.
Wrapping your arms around me, you whispered in my ear "Close your eyes."
Eyes closed, mind quiet, body paralyzed.
As soon as I fell asleep, you screamed in my ear "SIKEEEE!!! Time to wake up again!!"
Why Mr. Sandman? Why must you do me so wrong? Why wont you let me sleep?
I wrote this last night as I thought of the dance that Mr. Sandman and I waltz to on a nightly basis. Within minutes of falling asleep, I am suddenly woken up, for reasons that are beyond me. This goes on all night long. I get to sleep and POOF I wake up. So I thought that I should write about it, in a rather unconventional way, and it worked.
Very nice work. The block is gone.
